What is Valentine's Day without cookies?

OK before we get to the cookies. Ellie woke up this morning and of course wanted to wear purple. (She has been asking to wear purple every day for over a week now. Along with her purple juice cup, purple spoon, purple bowl...see a trend?) But I told her that today was Valentine's Day and asked if she wanted to wear pink. She agreed and began to pull all pink garments from her draw. This is what SHE decided on. I think it hilarious. The pants are size 12 months, the skirt is a skort, the shirt has a hole in it, and then she choose her pink snow boots to finish off the ensemble. Got to love Elliette!

So for the cookies. I decided early this week that we would make sugar cookies for Valentine's Day since B is working. Fun project right? First, we stirred in the ingredients. Only fought over the spoons one time.

Next, we cut out the heart shapes from the very sticky dough. They cooperated nicely during this segment, too. So far so good. Notice that the cookie cutters are upside down.

Now, decorating the cookies. I thought this would be the most fun part. Ellie was very into it. She took each candy heart and stuck it WAY down into the cookie. She was very meticulous. Colton, however, was a bit different. He started off strong. But then kept dumping over his bowl full of decorative goodies, and then decided he wanted to wrestle. He kept jumping on my back and I was helpless because my hands were so doughy. Then I thought he could be the sprinkler and gently sprinkle the red confections over the cookies. Umm no. He just dumped it all out on to the floor.

They did love to watch the cookies bake. They kept giggling and saying "cookies." Here are our finished products.

And of course the best part of all, tasting your creations. Happy Valentine's Day!

Lanette, you are such an excellent mommy. And that really shows in the happy babies' faces!

The cookies turned out really cute!! This morning I went downstairs and found Brody with a container of valentine sprinkles spilled all over the floor. He was literally licking them off the floor! He told me he wanted some treats!
