What to do on a Rainy Day?

It has been cold and rainy here for the past few days. And while I am thankful for the rain because we do need it, cold wet rain makes it challenging to get out of the house. So I decided to do something my Grandmother Taylor would let us do at her house when we couldn't go outside. She would go get Granddaddy's shaving cream, the old Barbasol brand with red stripes. And she would let us 'finger paint' with it on her table. I loved this event. It was so much fun to get your fingers in the cream and makes shapes, letters, and numbers. Also, the smell is wonderful and it cleans your table. Seriously. It is just soap. Check it out.

Ellie got right to it. We made circles, triangles, and of course the number 2 over and over. Then we graduated to houses, cars, ducks, sun, moon, and lots of stars. (She just smeared it around but would request objects.) Really fun. Just as much fun as when my brothers and I did it at Grandmother's house. Love you and miss you Grandmother. :)You might be wondering where is Colton? Well, he is not crazy about getting his hands dirty. (Ask Rusty about Colton falling in the dirt at the party and getting up using his elbows.) So I tried to force the fun and just stuck his hands into the cream. Colton screamed and ran away. Really. He eventually made his way back and enjoyed watching Mommy draw in the mess. Maybe next time.
